Terms of use and disclaimer
Last updated: 23 October 2026
Epocher is a free history game run from the Netherlands. By playing it or uploading a deck or puzzle, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
Community decks and puzzles
Decks and puzzles in Explore, and any deck or puzzle opened through a shared link, are made and uploaded by players. They are not made, checked or approved by Epocher, and they don't express our views. Their makers are responsible for them and keep whatever rights they have in them.
We don't earn money from community decks and puzzles. We don't sell them, nobody pays to play them, no deck is sponsored, and we don't show ads on community deck and puzzle pages or during games played with a player's deck. Epocher itself is supported by donations and by ads on its own pages, which you can switch off.
When you upload
By uploading a deck or puzzle you confirm that:
- you made it yourself, or you have permission to share everything in it;
- it doesn't copy protected text, images or other material from books, films, games or websites beyond short references to facts, names and dates;
- it doesn't break the law or anyone's rights, and isn't hateful, harassing or misleading on purpose.
You keep the rights to what you upload. You give Epocher a free, worldwide, non-exclusive permission to store, show and let others play it on Epocher (publicly or through its link, as you chose) for as long as it is online. You can delete it at any time. We may hide or remove any deck or puzzle, without notice, if it is reported or seems to break these terms.
Trademarks and copyrighted works
Names of books, films, games, people, places and organisations that appear in decks, puzzles or example files are used only to refer to them. All trademarks and copyrighted works belong to their owners. For example, the works of J.R.R. Tolkien are protected by copyright held by the Tolkien Estate and its publishers, and The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Middle-earth are trademarks of their owners.
Epocher is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of these owners. Fan-made decks, including Epocher's own Middle-earth example, are unofficial: they list dates and events in their own words, for fun and learning, and are not a substitute for the original works.
Report content or a rights problem
If you think a deck, puzzle or card breaks your rights or the law, use the Report button on it, or email info@epocher.io with a link to it, what you think is wrong, and, for a rights claim, which work or trademark it concerns and that you own it or act for its owner. We look at every report and remove or hide content where needed, usually within a few days.
Epocher Pro
Playing Epocher stays free. Epocher Pro is a one-time payment, not a subscription. It unlocks the archive of earlier daily puzzles, the journey through time from the Mesozoic on (including eras added later), room for 50 decks and 50 puzzles on your account, and no ads anywhere in the game. Other unlocks, such as a new campaign, may be sold separately and say so on their own offer. The price shown at checkout includes any VAT. Payments are handled by Stripe.
Pro belongs to the account you bought it with and works on every device where you log in with that account. It can't be moved to another account. If you delete your account, Pro is deleted with it.
Because Pro is digital content you get right away, you ask us at checkout to start at once and you agree that you then lose the 14-day right of withdrawal that EU consumers otherwise have. If something doesn't work, or you paid by mistake, write to info@epocher.io and we will sort it out. A refund or a chargeback takes Pro away again.
No guarantees
We do our best to keep the Classic deck's dates correct and sourced, but history is often uncertain and mistakes happen. Community decks may contain errors. Epocher is offered as it is, without any warranty, and may change, pause or stop at any time. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using the site or from content made by players.
Epocher's own content
The game, its design, code and the Classic deck are © Epocher, all rights reserved. Each card links to its source; those sources belong to their own publishers.
Changes and law
We may update these terms when the site changes; the date at the top shows the latest version. Dutch law applies. Questions? Email info@epocher.io.
